Nioh 2 vs Mortal Shell – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs Mortal Shell - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs Mortal Shell. I will do a comparison between them and I will let you be the judge of which game is better. First I will talk about the storyline of those 2 games, then I will talk about the difference or similarities in their gameplay, and lastly, I will compare the visuals and tell you my final thoughts. Now let’s begin.

Storyline

The stories of both games are pretty mediocre and forgettable in my opinion, that being said if I had to choose between the storylines of these two games I would choose the storyline of Nioh 2.

Nioh 2 had more interesting moments in the story. I never felt anything while playing Mortal Shell and watching its story unfold.

I don’t recommend that you make a decision between these two games based on the story because for me story isn’t the main reason someone buys these types of games.

Gameplay

These two games have several differences when it comes to combat.

Nioh 2 offers a lot more depth in its combat system. It has skill trees for ninja, onmyo, and transformation skills, you have to also add the attribute system which is similar to Dark Souls, meaning that when you gather enough currency to level up you have to put a point in one of the available attributes.

Mortal Shell has the hardening system, which don’t get me wrong, is something fresh but I think it makes the game too easy since it gives the player a way to avoid all coming damage if he knows how to use it, and it doesn’t require a lot of skill to use it effectively.

Nioh 2 just offers more quantity and quality, for example, Nioh 2 has 11 different weapons and each one of them has its own skill tree and unique playstyle. Mortal Shell offers 5 different weapons but they don’t really have depth in their playstyle.

Both games offer a variety of enemies and bosses but Nioh 2’s bosses are just more interesting to fight against and they are more.

Lastly, Nioh 2 has a lot more content, more replayability (because there are many different skills and a lot more combinations to try), is more challenging, and also offers co-op with up to 2 others, while in Mortal Shell you can only play solo.

Visuals

The difference in visuals between the two games isn’t big due to the fact that they were released in the same year. Nioh 2 has better scenery in my opinion but the difference isn’t huge.

Customization is another thing to consider. Nioh 2 offers a character creation system that is detailed and you can also use it again whenever you want for the entire playthrough. Mortal Shell doesn’t have a character creation system and the players can only change “shells” in the game and each shell has different abilities so that isn’t considered customization in my opinion.

Also, Nioh 2 offers an equipment transmogrification system meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

Final Thoughts

Let me summarize what you should keep from this article.

First, when it comes to the story both games are mediocre but the story of Nioh 2 will give you some emotion I believe.

Second, Nioh 2 is far superior in every way when it comes to the gameplay and the only thing that it could do better is the way the mission system works. If Nioh 2 was semi-open world like Mortal Shell it would make the game even better.

Finally, the visuals of both games are around the same level but Nioh 2 has superior more customization options(there isn’t even a comparison).

I would strongly recommend Nioh 2 over Mortal Shell. I would recommend waiting for sale but Nioh 2 is worth the full price in my opinion.

Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls Remastered – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls Remastered - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls Remastered.

Nioh 2 had more interesting moments in the story than Dark Souls Remastered but still, they are on the same level.

I don’t recommend that you make a decision between these two games based on the story because for me story isn’t the main reason someone buys these types of games.

Gameplay

The main differences can be seen in combat. Nioh 2 has a very deep combat system, with each weapon having each own skill tree and abilities, and there eleven different types of melee weapons. Nioh 2 also offers ranged weapons but ranged weapons don’t have skill trees.

Besides weapons in Nioh 2 you can use onmyo skills and ninja skills and each of them have their own skill tree.

Dark Souls on the other hand has more weapons to choose from but it doesn’t have skill trees with those weapons, meaning the number of things you can do with these weapons are pretty limited. I don’t think there is even a comparison here. Nioh 2 literally destroys Dark Souls when it comes to combat because even if you ignore the skill trees Nioh 2 also has stances(low, mid, and high stance) that you can use with each weapon and each stance has a different moveset and you can switch stances according to the situation you are facing.

Both games also offer a variety of enemies and bosses which are unique and interesting to fight against.

The last thing that is worth mentioning is the difficulty of these two games. Nioh 2 is a lot more challenging than Dark Souls, it has more replayability and a lot more content. I believe there is only one thing that Dark Souls does better, and that is the semi-open world element. In Nioh 2 you just pick a mission then complete it and then you return to the map to choose another mission.

Visuals

The difference in visuals between the two games is huge and that is understandable given the release dates of both games. Nioh 2 has better visuals, scenery, and in general everything about its looks is better.

Customization is another thing to consider. Nioh 2 offers a character creation system that is detailed and you can also use it again whenever you want for the entire playthrough. Dark Souls Remastered also has a character creation system but the characters you can make don’t look nearly as good as the characters you can make in Nioh 2. The difference is night and day, Nioh 2 is on a different league.

Also, Nioh 2 offers an equipment transmogrification system(Dark Souls Remastered doesn’t have something like that), meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

If Nioh 2 was semi-open world like Dark Souls it would make the game even better.

Finally, Nioh 2 has superior visuals and its customization options are on a different league.

I would strongly recommend Nioh 2 over Dark Souls Remastered. The only real advantage Dark Souls Remastered has is the price, since it’s an older game you can get the game for a lower price but it’s still high if it’s not on sale. Nioh 2 is around 60 euros since it came out recently and I don’t see the price dropping that much on sale.

This is it, guys. I hope you found the article informative and that I helped you decide which is the best game for you.

Nioh 2 vs The Surge – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs The Surge - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs The Surge. I will do a comparison between them and I will let you be the judge of which game is better. First I will talk about the storyline of those 2 games, then I will talk about the difference or similarities in their gameplay, and lastly, I will compare the visuals and tell you my final thoughts. Now let’s begin.

Storyline

Both games have average and forgettable storylines. The storyline of Surge even though it doesn’t have a character creation system, is nothing special and it doesn’t make you feel anything for what is going on in the game world.

Nioh 2 has a more interesting storyline compared to Surge but it still falls short.

It’s not a bad thing if you don’t care so much about the story, since they offer a lot when it comes to gameplay, but if you are one of those people that want a game to have a very good story to be able to enjoy it, then I wouldn’t recommend either game.

Gameplay

There are differences in the way you approach combat between these two games. In Surge, you have to choose one of the enemies’ body part to focus your attacks on, and before you make that choice you have to consider whether or not you want the enemies’ armor(since you have to cut the limb with the armor part you want in order to unlock that armor part) or you just want to kill the enemy fast and that means targeting a body part that isn’t armored if there is one. Besides the armor, you can also equip implants that give you different buffs and abilities.

Nioh 2 on the other hand, has three different stances available for each weapon and each weapon has its own skill tree and that gives a lot of variety when it comes to combat. Nioh 2 also has ninja and onmyo skill trees, a skill tree for the transformation(since you transform into a yokai), and a samurai skill tree. Long story short Nioh 2 has a more complex combat system than Surge, now that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better, both games are good in their own way.

Both games also offer a variety of weapons(Nioh 2 also has unique skill trees for each weapon), so if you are someone that gets bored using the same weapon over and over again you won’t have to worry.

As for the enemies, both games have a lot of different kinds of enemies and bosses for you to fight but Nioh 2 offers a lot more bosses and the bosses of Nioh 2 are more interesting and entertaining to fight against than the bosses of Surge.

Lastly, let’s talk about difficulty. Nioh 2 is a lot more challenging than Surge and a lot harder to get into since it has a lot of different things you need to learn in order to understand how to play the game properly. Additionally, Nioh 2 has a lot more content and more replayability than Surge.

Also if you are someone who wants to play with friends Nioh 2 offers co-op and you can play with up to two other players.

Visuals

Nioh 2 has a lot better visuals than Surge, but that’s understandable given the release dates of these games. The scenery they offer is nothing amazing but I still prefer the scenery of Nioh 2 over the scenery of Surge.

The important difference between these two games is the customization they offer. Nioh 2 has a far superior character creation system and you can change your character even after you start the story of the game.

Another amazing thing Nioh 2 offers is the equipment transmogrification system, meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

Surge offers little customization that doesn’t change much.

Final Thoughts

Let me summarize what you should remember from this article.

First, when it comes to the storyline, Nioh 2 has a little better storyline but I wouldn’t recommend either game for the story.

Second, in the gameplay department, I prefer Nioh 2’s combat system, and Nioh 2 is also more challenging, has more replayability and content, better bosses and you can play co-op with friends.

As for the visuals, Nioh 2 offers a lot more customization options and has better graphics.

All in all Nioh 2 is a better game and it’s worth the full price but if you can wait for sale then I recommend you wait.

This is it, guys. I hope you found the article informative and that I helped you decide which is the best game for you.

Nioh 2 vs Jedi Fallen Order – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs Jedi Fallen Order - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 and Jedi Fallen Order. I will do a comparison between them and I will let you be the judge of which game is better. First I will talk about the storyline of those 2 games, then I will talk about the difference or similarities in their gameplay, and lastly, I will compare the visuals and tell you my final thoughts. Now let’s begin.

Storyline

Between these two games, I have to say that the story of Jedi Fallen Order is far more intriguing and entertaining to see how it progresses as you play. The story of Nioh 2 is ok for what it is but it is nothing special. Nioh 2’s story has some good moments but overall it’s pretty forgettable.

If you are someone that cares a lot about the storyline then I recommend Jedi Fallen Order and it’s not even a close call.

Gameplay

There are differences in the way you approach combat between these two games. In Jedi Fallen Order you have only one weapon the lightsaber but you can also use force abilities(which you unlock playing the game). The combat of Jedi Fallen Order is very similar to Sekiro’s combat. You have to play aggressively and try to parry enemies when you can.

Nioh 2 has more options when it comes to combat. You have 11 different types of weapons available(each of them has its own skill tree) and you can use three different stances with these weapons depending on the situation. You can also use ninja and onmyo skills and transform into a yokai.

If you want the most variety in combat then Nioh 2 is a better choice.

As for the enemies, both games offer different types of enemies for you to face but Nioh 2 has more interesting bosses which are far more entertaining to fight than the bosses in Jedi Fallen Order.

We also have to talk about the difficulty since it’s an important factor to consider in these types of games. Nioh 2 is more challenging and has a steeper learning curve. Nioh 2 also offers a lot more content and replayability since there are a lot of different builds you can try, something that Jedi Fallen Order doesn’t offer to the same extent since you can only use one weapon and there isn’t much else for build options.

Lastly, Nioh 2 offers a co-op mode for up to three players including you, and this is something that a lot of players want in soulslike games.

Visuals

Both games have amazing graphics and I can’t really say that one game looks better than the other in terms of graphics, but what I can say is that Jedi Fallen Order has better and more beautiful scenery. I know that soulslike games are supposed to be dark and gritty but there are games like Sekiro for example that can be dark but also have beautiful scenery.

One thing that Nioh 2 does better is the customization since it has one of the best character creation systems I have seen. Nioh 2 also has an equipment transmogrification system it offers, meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

In Jedi Fallen Order you can customize the lightsaber and change the color of your clothes and ship but there isn’t much else you can do.

Final Thoughts

Let me summarize what you should keep from this article.

First, if you care a lot about the story of the games you play then Jedi Fallen Order is the game for you.

Second, the gameplay of Nioh 2 has a lot more complexity. Nioh 2 also has more replayability and is more challenging.

Finally, both games have amazing graphics but Jedi Fallen Order has better scenery. As for the customization, Nioh 2 is on another level with the most customization options I have seen in a soulslike game.

I personally recommend Nioh 2 but Jedi Fallen Order is a very good game as well. If you choose Jedi Fallen Order I recommend you wait for a sale.

Nioh 2 vs Code Vein – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs Code Vein - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs Code Vein. I will do a comparison between them and I will let you be the judge of which game is better. First I will talk about the storyline of those 2 games, then I will talk about the difference or similarities in their gameplay, and lastly, I will compare the visuals and tell you my final thoughts. Now let’s begin.

Storyline

When it comes to the storyline, Code Vein has a better and more cohesive story with more interesting characters that will make you care about what happens to them. Nioh 2 also has some good moments but overall the story isn’t as interesting as the story of Code Vein.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying Code Vein’s story is perfect, but I personally found it enjoyable and I would recommend it over the story of Nioh 2.

So if you want an enjoyable story then I would pick Code Vein over Nioh 2.

Gameplay

There are differences in the way the players have to approach combat in these two games.

Code Vein’s combat is similar to Dark Souls games, while Nioh 2 offers a more complex combat system with different stances and skill trees for each weapon. The combat system in Nioh 2 is so deep that it will take hours upon hours till you try every single weapon and its skills since you unlock weapon skills by using the weapon whose skills you want to unlock.

Nioh 2 also has skill trees for ninja, onmyo, and transformation skills, you have to also add the attribute system which is similar to Dark Souls, meaning that when you gather enough currency to level up you have to put a point in one of the available attributes.

Code Vein doesn’t have an attribute system like Nioh and Dark Souls, instead, it has a class system and each class has different skills you can unlock.

Both systems are good in their own way but if I had to choose which one I prefer, I would choose the system of Nioh 2 since it is far more complex and fun once you understand how it works.

As for the enemies, both games offer a variety of enemies for you to fight and they also have entertaining bosses, though Nioh 2 has more bosses and they are a little more interesting to fight against.

Lastly, Nioh 2 is more challenging than Code Vein, has more content, and more replayability. Both games offer a co-op system, although in Nioh 2 you can play with up to 2 others, while in Code Vein you can play with only one other person.

Visuals

The graphics of these two games have a different direction so it’s hard to compare them. Code Vein goes for anime-like graphics while Nioh 2 has a more realistic graphics approach. I think both of them are equally good for what they are and it comes down to preference show I would recommend checking out gameplay and see what you prefer.

As for the visuals, both games are dark and gritty so don’t expect beautiful locations. I can’t say I prefer the scenery of one game over the other.

One great thing about these two games is the customization they offer. They have amazing character creation systems, but Nioh 2 has an advantage and that is the equipment transmogrification system it offers, meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

So when it comes to visuals overall Nioh 2 offers more because of the customization options.

Final Thoughts

Let me summarize what you should remember from this article.

First, when it comes to the story, Code Vein is a far better choice than Nioh 2.

Second, in the gameplay department, I believe Nioh 2 is a more complex game and once you understand how its systems work you will enjoy the combat much more than Code Vein.

Lastly, both games have great visuals though they have different styles, Nioh 2 has an edge on the customization front because of the equipment transmogrification system it offers.

If you choose Code Vein I would recommend waiting for a sale, and while Nioh 2 is worth the full price personally I would wait for a sale.

Nioh 2 vs The Surge 2 - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs The Surge 2. I will do a comparison between them and I will let you be the judge of which game is better. First I will talk about the storyline of those 2 games, then I will talk about the difference or similarities in their gameplay, and lastly, I will compare the visuals and tell you my final thoughts. Now let’s begin.

Storyline

Both games have forgettable storylines, although Nioh 2 has some good moments. Having a character creation system means that the main characters never speak so that takes a lot from the story and even though some games like Breath of the Wild managed to have amazing stories even without the main character speaking, the same can’t be said for these two games.

It’s not a bad thing if you don’t care so much about the story, since they offer a lot when it comes to gameplay, but if you are one of those people that want a game to have a very good story to be able to enjoy it, then I wouldn’t recommend either game.

There are differences in the way you approach combat between these two games. Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. I will do a comparison between them and I will let you be the judge of which game is better. First I will talk about the storyline of those 2 games, then I will talk about the difference or similarities in their gameplay, and lastly, I will compare the visuals and tell you my final thoughts. Now let’s begin.

Storyline

The storylines of both games are pretty average and forgettable, but if you want my personal opinion on which of the games’ storylines I prefer I would say that Nioh 2 has a somewhat better storyline because there were moments where I actually felt something from the story.

I wouldn’t recommend picking either game for the story. The reason for someone to buy either of these two games is the gameplay and I will talk about that in the next section.

Gameplay

The gameplay of these two games has a lot of differences when it comes to combat. Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin has a straightforward combat system without a lot of versatility. The best thing about Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin’s combat system is the dual-wielding.

The dual-wielding of that game is innovative and the best dual-wielding system implemented in the franchise. Nioh 2 on the other hand has a more versatile combat system with a lot of depth to it that you don’t see often in soulslike games. Each type of weapon(except for ranged weapons) in Nioh 2 has its own skill tree and also three different movesets based on the stance the player uses(high, mid, low).

In Nioh 2 besides weapons you can also use ninja and onmyo skills which are very distinct from one another and offer a lot of different ways to approach a fight.

As for the enemies, both games offer a variety of enemies and bosses for the players to fight and they are equally entertaining to fight against.

One of the important things when it comes to these types of games, what players want is a challenge, and it’s important to know which of the two games is more challenging.

The answer is not that simple, unfortunately. Nioh 2 surely offers a lot more challenge in ng+ playthroughs but on the first playthrough, the answer isn’t clear. If you haven’t played the first Nioh then Nioh 2 can be very challenging because there are many things you need to learn like which skills are good, which are bad, where to distribute stat points etc. Once you understand how the game is played, then the first playthrough of Nioh 2 is as challenging as the first playthrough in Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin.

Also, Nioh 2 beats Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin when it comes to replayability. Lastly, in both games, you can play co-op with friends but only in Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin you can play pvp.

Visuals

The difference in visuals between the two games is significant which is understandable if you consider the release date of these two games. As for scenery, both games offer a variety of locations for the players to traverse, but I believe Dark Souls 2 has a somewhat better scenery.

The real difference is the customization both games offer. Nioh 2 offers a character creation system that is detailed and you can also use it again whenever you want for the entire playthrough. Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin also has a character creation system but the characters you can make don’t look nearly as good as the characters you can make in Nioh 2. The difference is night and day, Nioh 2 is on a different league.

Also, Nioh 2 offers an equipment transmogrification system(Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin doesn’t have something like that), meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

Final Thoughts

Let me summarize what you should keep from this article.

When it comes to the storyline Nioh 2 has a somewhat more interesting story but both games stories are nothing great.

As for the gameplay, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin has a more traditional combat system while Nioh 2 has more depth to its combat system. Nioh 2 is equally challenging(if you have played the first Nioh) with Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin on the first playthrough but after the first playthrough Nioh 2 is a lot more challenging.

Visually Nioh 2 looks better but Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin has more interesting scenery. As for the customization, Nioh 2 wins easily since it has a lot of customization options an amazing character creation system, and an equipment transmogrification system.

If you pick Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin I recommend waiting for sale since I don’t believe it’s worth the full price.

This is it, guys. I hope you found the article informative and that I helped you decide which is the best game for you.

I believe there isn’t even a debate when it comes to the storyline. Sekiro has a far superior storyline with characters that will make you care about them to some degree and an interesting plot. Sekiro also offers four different endings based on the choices you made during your playthrough.

Nioh 2 on the other hand, has an average story with some good moments and you maybe feel something at some point but it has nothing compared to Sekiro. The story of Nioh 2 is forgettable and nothing that will have you invested in the plot.

If you are a person who wants a game to have a good story then Sekiro is the better choice in this case.

Gameplay

There are a lot of differences in the gameplay between these two games. Nioh 2 follows a more traditional RPG approach, meaning it has 8 core stats and when the players have enough amrita to level up they choose a stat to put points in. Besides the core stats, Nioh 2 also has weapon skill trees, a ninja skill tree, an onmyo skill tree, a samurai skill tree, and a shiftling skills tree.

In Seriro on the other hand, you can only unlock skills to use in combat and increase your attack damage. There are also shinobi tool abilities but personally, I didn’t use shinobi tools a lot during my playthroughs. Having a limited number of uses makes shinobi tools unreliable.

Combat between those two games has some similarities because both games encourage offensive playstyle and breaking the opponents’ posture in Sekiro or doing damage to the opponents’ Ki bar in Nioh 2.

Nioh 2 offers 11 different weapon types while Sekiro offers only one(a katana), so if you want a lot of options then Nioh 2 is a better choice for you.

Both games offer a variety of enemies and bosses for the players to fight although Nioh 2 has more bosses.

Lastly, Sekiro is more challenging than Nioh 2 on the first playthrough and I can’t really compare them after that because I haven’t played the ng+ of Nioh 2. As for the replayability, Nioh 2 has a lot more since there are a lot of different builds you can try, while in Sekiro

One bonus of Nioh 2 that Sekiro doesn’t have is co-op. Playing with friends is something a lot of players want in these types of games and Nioh 2 offers that.

Visuals

Both games have great visuals, and I think they are on the same level more or less. The important difference is the scenery. Sekiro has more unique and beautiful locations for the players to traverse.

Just as Sekiro wins when it comes to the areas, Nioh 2 wins in customization. There isn’t even a comparison. Sekiro only has four outfits for the players to choose from and you have to unlock them. Nioh 2 has a detailed characters creation system which is one of the best ones I have seen and a also an equipment transmogrification system, meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

An additional benefit of Nioh 2 is that you can return to the character creation whenever you want even after you started the game, so you aren’t trapped with the character you made originally which is great.

Final Thoughts

Let me summarize what you should keep from this article.

First when it comes to the story Sekiro is the only choice, there isn’t even a debate.

Second, both games have amazing gameplay, Sekiro is more challenging on the first playthrough, Nioh 2 has more content, and Nioh 2 also has more replayability.

Lastly, both games have amazing visuals, though Sekiro has more interesting areas. Nioh 2 offers a ton of customization options while Sekiro has almost no customization.

Whichever game you pick between these two I don’t believe that you will be disappointed. Even at full price, both games are worth it.

Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls 3 – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls 3 - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs Dark Souls 3.

The reason why I prefer the storyline of Nioh 2 is that there were a few moments that I actually felt something from the cutscenes. This thing never happened with Dark Souls 3.

I don’t recommend that you make a decision between these two games based on the story because for me story isn’t the main reason someone buys these types of games.

Gameplay

There are differences between the gameplay of both games.

Dark Souls 3 on the other hand has more weapons to choose from but it doesn’t have skill trees with those weapons, meaning the number of things you can do with these weapons are pretty limited. I don’t think there is even a comparison here. Nioh 2 literally destroys Dark Souls 3 when it comes to combat because even if you ignore the skill trees Nioh 2 also has stances(low, mid, and high stance) that you can use with each weapon and each stance has a different moveset and you can switch stances according to the situation you are facing.

Both games also offer a variety of enemies and bosses which are unique and interesting to fight against.

The last thing that is worth mentioning is the difficulty of these two games. Nioh 2 is a lot more challenging than Dark Souls 3, it has more replayability and a lot more content. I believe there is only one thing that Dark Souls 3 does better, and that is the semi-open world element. In Nioh 2 you just pick a mission then complete it and then you return to the map to choose another mission.

Visuals

The difference in visuals between the two games is noticeable. Nioh 2 has better visuals, which is understandable given the release dates of both games. As for scenery, both games offer a variety of locations for the players to traverse.

The real difference is the customization both games offer. Nioh 2 offers a character creation system that is detailed and you can also use it again whenever you want for the entire playthrough. Dark Souls 3 also has a character creation system but the characters you can make don’t look nearly as good as the characters you can make in Nioh 2. The difference is night and day, Nioh 2 is on a different league.

Also, Nioh 2 offers an equipment transmogrification system(Dark Souls 3 doesn’t have something like that), meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

If Nioh 2 was semi-open world like Dark Souls 3 it would make the game even better.

Finally, Nioh 2 has superior visuals and its customization options are on a different league.

I would strongly recommend Nioh 2 over Dark Souls 3 any day of the week. The only real advantage Dark Souls 3 has is the price, since it’s an older game you can get the game and all its DLCs for around 20 euros on a sale. Nioh 2 is around 60 euros since it came out recently and I don’t see the price dropping that much on sale. So if you don’t want to spend a lot of money you can pick Dark Souls 3 since it is a good game and you will surely enjoy it.

Nioh 2 vs Nioh – The Definitive Comparison

Nioh 2 vs Nioh - The Definitive Comparison

Hi guys! Today I will talk about Nioh 2 vs Nioh. I will do a comparison between them and I will let you be the judge of which game is better. First I will talk about the storyline of those 2 games, then I will talk about the difference or similarities in their gameplay, and lastly, I will compare the visuals and tell you my final thoughts. Now let’s begin.

Storyline

The stories of both games aren’t something great. They have a few good moments but that’s it. If I had to choose though, I think the story of Nioh 2 is a little better. There were scenes where a felt something so I prefer the story of Nioh 2 compared to the first Nioh.

Now, having said that, I don’t believe the story should be one of the major factors that you should consider when choosing between these two games. The storyline isn’t the reason why people buy these types of games, although it is important for a game to have a good story.

Gameplay

Gameplay-wise Nioh 2 has everything the first Nioh had plus more and some changes to a few mechanics from the first game.

Nioh 2 offers a lot more weapons for the players to choose from, it has a new system that uses Anima(a bar under HP and Ki that increases when you attack enemies) which allows you to use Yokai Abilities that you can unlock by killing yokai and collecting Soul Cores from them.

Nioh 2 in general is just a better version of the first game but I believe you have to have played the first Nioh to truly appreciate the changes.

Both games offer a lot of variety when it comes to enemies, though Nioh 2 has more enemy types and more bosses, and some of the bosses in Nioh 2 are from the first game although they are just a bonus, meaning that the game already has as many original bosses that the first Nioh had and a few of the old bosses from the first game.

Finally, both games are equally challenging in my opinion, but when it comes to content, Nioh 2 offers more content and more replayability since it has more weapons and a whole new system(the Anima) that you can use to try unique builds.

Visuals

Both games have great visuals, but Nioh 2 looks better which is natural since it’s the most recent game. The difference in visuals isn’t that big and the areas look similar in style so there isn’t a significant difference when you play the game.

The real difference is the customization both games offer. The first Nioh didn’t have a character creation system and Nioh 2 offers a character creation system that is detailed and you can also use it again whenever you want for the entire playthrough.

Also, Nioh 2 offers a lot(if not all) of the outfits of the first game and new ones. Additionally, both games offer an equipment transmogrification system, meaning that you are able to change the appearance of any armor or weapon you have to the appearance of another weapon or armor you have gotten in the game and keep the item’s stats.

Final Thoughts

Let me summarize what you should keep from this article.

First, the stories of both games are pretty mediocre and forgettable though Nioh 2 has a slightly better story.

Second, the gameplay of Nioh 2 is better than the gameplay of the first Nioh since it offers more weapons to choose from, new systems that didn’t exist in the first game, and more content.

Third, the visuals of Nioh 2 are better than the visuals of the first Nioh though the difference isn’t enough to matter. Lastly, Nioh 2 offers a lot more customization.

Personally, I would recommend you get both games at some point since they are both good. I believe you should wait for a sale and buy the first Nioh and then wait for another sale to buy the second. If you like these types of games then playing the first Nioh before Nioh 2 is recommended because I think you won’t enjoy the first Nioh game as much after you play Nioh 2 since it has fewer systems.
